The add form of the command adds a new option to the database. If priority is specified, it indicates the priority level for this option see below for legal values ; it defaults to interactive. This command always returns an empty string.
The option clear command clears the option database. Xdefaults file will be reloaded automatically the next time an option is added to the database or removed from it.
The option get command returns the value of the option specified for window under name and class.
The distinction between American and European options has nothing to do with geography, only with early exercise. Many options on stock indexes are of the European type. Because the right to exercise early has some value, an American option typically carries a higher premium than an otherwise identical European option. This is because the early exercise feature is desirable and commands a premium.
